Frequently answered questions
Adresses
Using which program should I store adresses for letter production?
It depends on the quantity. For small quantities - up to about 5000 adresses - a calculation program is suitable (Open Office Calc, Microsoft Excel). For large quantities better use a database program or specialized application programs offering a fixed structured dialog. This kind of applications can verify adresses you entered.
How should I enter adresses into a calculation program (Open Office Calc, Microsoft Excel)?
To be placed in letters the adresses better have a uniform fixed format. Enter the names of the columns in the first line:
| Adressing | FirstName | FamilyName | Street | ZIP | City |
| Mr | Otto | Meier | Römerberg 1 | 60311 | Frankfurt |
| Mrs | Anna | Müller | Am Domhof 2 | 50667 | Köln |
Using an Open Office Calc or Microsoft Excel, may I enter data in multiple lines?
Adresses with multiple line fields are of limited use: They cannot be sorted by particles of the adress. Formatting can change uncontrollable while printing.
| name | adress |
| Otto Meier | Römerberg 1 60311 Frankfurt |
| Anna Müller | Am Domhof 2 50667 Köln |
